DIY Gold Metal Headband

This weekend was just perfect. Great weather, great company and great shopping! On Saturday afternoon I participated in Shopcrawl414 hosted by Miss Kitty Bradshaw where we indulged in thrift, vintage and antique jewels clothes and furniture. My next post will go into details about the shop crawl itself but I had to post about my DIY project first So in my previous post I snagged some beautiful gold wired material Film Biz Recycling. I was going to make a necklace last night until I saw this commercial with a woman who had a cute headband and short wavy hair. Immediately the phrase “weeeeeerrq betch” came out my mouth and turned to my gold material and began going to work! Here is my step by step on the my lovely DIY headpiece:

1- Cut the fold to about 3 inch thick and scrunched up the ends

2- Cut off all the gold leaves (or else I would look like I was from the Garden of Eden)

3- Add a hair tie to the back for elasticity

and Voila! Gold headband reaaaalnesssss! Woop Woop!

Honestly don't ever stop at the store bought design, make it your own by adding glitter, shatter or even covering half with a different nail color.

Glitter Inspiration for Nail Designs

Recently used the Zoya Smoke and Mirrors collection nail polish that was mentioned on the Beauty in NYC blog.

The green had a hint on gold and I decided to get crafty and add gold glitter to the index finger. Now typically, most women have been known to put a design on the ring finger...buts thats so 1990s. The index finger is great because you tend to use it more (typing, pointing, moving hair away from face, etc...). Show off that finger by adding some color and glitter!

I simply used glitter from the drug store. I put a clear coat and quickly dipped my finger in the glitter. Flick it above a trash can or sink to get the access glitter off, then add a top coat...or two to make sure they stay on.

There ya go!

DIY Fashion/Makeup Shoot

Totally forgot about this photoshoot I did for my wifey Laura. She is a dope makeup artist and did some experiments….This one was urban/retro. We used mac and sephora makeup up. My old apartment and a reg camera...the key is to use photo editing to help make the pictures look more artistic. One I use often is picnik.com Great tool and very easy to use (for the photoshop challenged)

Do we like?

Next DIY Project...

Why pay for a cute design when you can totally DIY it....next post will be based on the image above!

DIY: Fringe Tank Top

www.seventeen.com/fashion/blog/DIY-FYI-Fringe-Tank
Fashion intern Mary Margaret @ Seventeen Magazine DIYs a latest trend!

Here's what you'll need to create this fringed and studded tank:

1. Tank top, Forever 21 for $9.Fringe Tank

2. Two yards of fringe, Hancock Fabrics about $6

3. A pack of 50 pyramid studs, studsandspikes.com, $4

4. Scissors

5. Small pliers

Sewing supplies

1. Sewing needles at Joann Fabric and Craft store, $3

2. Thread that matches the color of the fringe, $2 - $6.

FRINGED AND STUDDED TANK STEPS

Step 1. Lay the fringe along the neckline of the tank top and hand stitch the fringe to the tank, trim at end.

Step 2. Repeat 2 more times starting about an inch under the first layer. You will get a layered effect by doing this.

Step 3. Apply pyramid studs to neckline right over top layer of fringe. To apply the stud, push the pointy bottom part of the stud through the fabric and fold in with plyers.

Done!
